Gengo is a free, full featured plugin that provides multi-language blogging for WordPress. In Japanese, gengo (言語) is the word for “language”.

Features

- Bidirectional support for languages written from right to left (Arabic, Urdu, Farsi, Hebrew and Yiddish)
- Displays site in a combination of languages if not all posts have been translated (optional)
- Includes language codes in the permalink structure (optional)
- Fully configurable via the “Options” page
- Available in various languages: English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Spanish, Turkish and many more …

Requirements
- Gengo 0.9 works only with WordPress 2.1.2 or higher
- PHP4 or higher
- The option “Allow visitors to read this site in a combination of languages” requires MySQL 4.1 or higher (see above)
Installing Gengo
- Download the latest version of the Gengo plugin and decompress the .zip file
- Make sure to read the Readme
- Backup your database on the server
- Copy the gengo directory in the zip file to wp-content/plugins/
- Activate the plugin on the plugin screen.
- Add the languages you wish to use on the configuration screen. The first language you add will be the default language, and all existing posts will be marked as being written in this language.
- Change your wp-config.php file by hand so that WPLANG is the locale of your default language.
- If a Gengo localisation .mo file is available for your language, also add this to the Gengo directory. You can find Gengo localisations here.
